HCMC – HCMC will hold a spring flower market along Binh Dong and Nguyen Van Cua streets from February 2 to 15, to mark the Lunar New Year (Tet), the city government said.
According to a plan issued by the HCMC People’s Committee, the event will be organized by the Department of Culture and Sports and the Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Phu Dinh Ward administration.
The market will run from the 15th to the 28th days of the final lunar month. It will be centered on Binh Dong Street, where boats from Mekong Delta provinces will transport and sell flowers and ornamental plants along the Tau Hu Canal.
Spring flower streets and decorative displays on Binh Dong and Nguyen Van Cua streets will open from February 12 to 19, corresponding to the 25th day of the final lunar month through the third day of Tet.
Cultural and artistic activities will take place from the evening of February 12 to February 15 at the Nguyen Van Cua–Binh Dong intersection, where the main stage will be set up.
The opening ceremony on February 12 will feature lion, unicorn and dragon dances, a drum performance to mark the launch, and art programs combined with southern traditional don ca tai tu music.
From February 13 to 15, additional performances will be staged for the public. Boats on the Tau Hu Canal near pedestrian bridge No. 7 will also host don ca tai tu performances. Don ca tai tu is a genre of chamber music in the traditional music of southern Vietnam.
The market area will include themed installations along the canal and streets, lighting decorations on the pedestrian bridge, and spring flower displays on Nguyen Van Cua Street.
