HCMC – Vietnam’s leading steelmaker Hoa Phat Group JSC (HPG) paid close to VND7.4 trillion in taxes in the first six months of this year, up 42% against the same period last year and far exceeding the figure in all of 2020.
Its three affiliates — Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel JSC, Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel JSC, and Hoa Phat Steel Pipe Company — were the largest taxpayers among the group’s members.
Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Company took the lead with over VND4.8 trillion, up 47% versus the year-ago figure.
Hoa Phat Hai Duong Steel Company came second with nearly VND1.6 trillion, a 48% year-on-year rise. Last year, it paid over VND3 trillion in taxes. Of this, VND1.758 trillion went to Hai Duong Province, up 53% year-on-year and making it the largest State budget contributor in this northern province.
Closing the trading session today, July 14, HPG fell 0.45% to VND22,200.
The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 8.25 points, or 0.7%, over the session earlier at 1,182.77, with 241 stocks rising and 185 others declining. More than 534 million shares worth VND10.9 trillion were traded on the southern bourse, down 5% in both volume and value against the previous session.
On the Hanoi bourse, the HNX-Index rose 3.39 points, or 1.21% versus Wednesday at 284.75, with 109 winners and 66 losers.
