Humans remain crucial as IT innovations accelerate – report

HCMC – ManpowerGroup’s recent report says that while several key global trends in information technology (IT) innovation involve increased automation, the future of IT will still rely heavily on a highly skilled workforce.

The report, titled “IT World of Work 2024 Outlook,” indicates that the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region has one of the strongest hiring intentions for IT professionals in Q3 2024, ranking among the top three globally.

However, 78% of regional IT employers face challenges in finding qualified candidates.

Nguyen Thi Thu Thanh, North regional manager, Permanent Recruitment & Executive Search at ManpowerGroup Vietnam, said, “The human element remains central – technology thrives in the hands of those who make it work for everyone.”

Globally, hiring managers rank “training staff for AI integration” as the top workforce AI challenge, with 78% expressing concerns that they cannot train employees quickly enough for new technologies.

Public cloud services worldwide are expected to surge by 19.1% in 2024. In Vietnam, cloud engineers can earn between US$1,800 and US$4,000 monthly, according to the ManpowerGroup Vietnam Salary Guide 2024.

The global semiconductor industry will require over one million more workers by 2030. Vietnam needs to develop 50,000 semiconductor engineers by then to meet a projected 10-15% rise in annual labor demand.

By 2050, up to 50% of quantum computing jobs could remain unfilled. The report states that Vietnam’s talent pool in this field is limited, with few universities offering quantum research programs.

The demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals is intensifying, with the industry needing four million more workers to address growing global threats.
