HCMC – The Consulate General of Japan in HCMC on March 25 held a signing ceremony to provide non-refundable aid from the Japanese Government for an ongoing organic agriculture development project in Vietnam.
The event took place at the Consulate General of Japan in HCMC, with Japanese Consul General in HCMC Ono Masuo, Huynh Minh Tuan, vice chairman of Dong Thap Province, and other officials of the province attending.
The aid of more than US$195,000 is allocated to the sustainable community development project implemented in Dong Thap by the Seed to Table Organization. This project specializes in providing training in organic agriculture, food processing, and business management to enhance human resources.
At the event, Masuo said that this year marked the project’s second consecutive year of receiving aid. During this phase, the project will continue to conduct training sessions on organic agriculture and business management, and broaden research and development to innovate new products derived from various agricultural products of Dong Thap.
Tuan expressed strong appreciation for the effectiveness of this project, particularly in raising awareness of environmental protection and public health. Moreover, he highlighted the project’s impact on increasing the income of small-scale farming households through the training of farmers and students in organic agricultural techniques.
Ino Mayu, Seed to Table Organization founder, expressed appreciation for Dong Thap’s coordination in implementing the project. She envisions an increase in the presence of high-quality Dong Thap agricultural products in the Japanese market.
