Japan tops foreign investment in Danang hi-tech park

HCMC – Japan is the largest foreign investor in Danang’s Hi-Tech Park and industrial zones, with 49 projects worth a total of US$695.9 million.

The figures were released at the “Meet Japan: Advancing the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” conference held in Danang on July 4, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).

Japan has got involved in 261 projects in Danang, with total registered capital of US$1.14 billion. Nearly 61% of that has been allocated to hi-tech and industrial projects, according to the Danang People’s Committee.

Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, vice chairwoman of the Danang People’s Committee,  said Danang is focusing on high technology, innovation, and tourism. The city aims to attract more foreign investment by leveraging its location and infrastructure.

Danang has cooperation agreements with over 22 Japanese localities. It has formal partnerships with six cities, including Yokohama, Kawasaki and Nagasaki.

Japan is also a key tourism market. Japanese arrivals to Danang reached 179,000 in the first half of 2024, nearly triple the number from a year earlier.
