HCMC – Domestic gold bar prices today dropped by VND500,000 per tael to VND78.5 million per tael, said local media reports.
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on the morning of August 8 lowered the price of gold bars supplied to four State-run banks and Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) by VND500,000 to VND77.5 million per tael. This led to a corresponding drop in the selling prices at authorized businesses and banks.
At 9:15 a.m. today, SJC capped the selling price of gold bars at VND78.5 million per tael, down by VND500,000 against yesterday’s close. The difference between selling and buying prices remained at VND200,000 per tael.
Unlike gold bars, the price of plain 24K gold rings did not change this morning. SJC bought them at VND75.9 million per tael and sold them at VND77.3 million per tael.
