HCMC – Japan’s AEON Group has proposed developing a logistics and supply chain hub in Tay Ninh Province as part of its plan to expand its investments in high-tech logistics, industrial parks, and commercial infrastructure in the southern province.

At a meeting with Tay Ninh authorities on May 12, AEON representatives said the province is one of the group’s three strategic locations in southern Vietnam, alongside HCMC and Dong Nai City.

The proposal comes as Tay Ninh accelerates regional expressway projects and finalizes provincial planning, creating favorable conditions for the development of large-scale cargo transit centers linking Vietnam with neighboring countries through international border gates. AEON highlighted the potential of key transport corridors, especially the route connecting Ba Den Mountain area with HCMC.

In addition to operating the US$45-million AEON-Tan An shopping center since October 2025 in the province, the Japanese group plans to study the development of smaller-scale supermarket models under the AEON MaxValu brand, along with integrated service, entertainment, and logistics complexes. The investment orientation aligns with Tay Ninh’s strategy to attract projects in high-tech industry, climate-resilient agriculture, and modern service infrastructure.

Provincial leaders said Japan is currently Tay Ninh’s fourth-largest foreign investor, with total registered capital of US$1.52 billion.
