HCMC – The Ma Lu Thang border gate in the northern upland province of Lai Chau has been upgraded to an international border gate, said a representative of the provincial government yesterday, July 27.
Once the Covid situation in China is brought under control, the authorities of the two sides will organize a ceremony to announce the upgradation of the Ma Lu Thang (Vietnam)-Jinshuihe (China’s Yunnan Province) border gate pair into an international one.
This means citizens, commodities and vehicles from other countries will be allowed to travel through the Ma Lu Thang-Jinshuihe border gate pair.
On June 16 this year, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China passed a plan to upgrade the Jinshuihe border gate in Yunnan to an international one.
Earlier, due to the impact of the pandemic, import-export activities through this border gate pair were suspended for a long time until May this year.
