HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, April 24, confirmed 8,813 new daily Covid cases, down by 1,553 against yesterday.
Hanoi as usual registered the most number of new cases, at 970, followed by Bac Giang with 540, Phu Tho with 511 and Quang Ninh with 495. Nghe An and Yen Bai had 442 and 424 cases, respectively.
Fifty-four other provinces and cities recorded lower than 400 cases each.
Since the start of the Covid pandemic, Vietnam has reported more than 10.56 million positive cases, with nearly 9.1 million of them having recovered from the disease.
The ministry also reported nine new Covid deaths in six localities, including two in Can Tho and one in each of Daklak, Quang Ninh, Bac Lieu, Dong Thap and Kien Giang.
The Ministry of Health has written to cities, provinces and medical units under its management, saying that there are 203 long Covid symptoms, with fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle pain, cough and chest pain being common ones.
These symptoms may appear after the patients have recovered from Covid-19, last for a long time or relapse.
If these symptoms harm the health of the patients and affect their normal working capacity and daily life, the patients should visit healthcare centers.
This is the first time the Ministry of Health has issued care instructions on long Covid.
