HCMC – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has introduced Nguyen Thi Hong, deputy governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), as a candidate for the post of the central bank’s governor.
The National Assembly is expected to approve the proposal during its ongoing 10th sitting. If approved, Hong will replace Le Minh Hung, who had earlier been chosen as head of the Party Central Committee Office.
Hong, born in Hanoi in 1968, worked in the banking sector for nearly 30 years. She started working at SBV in January 1991 and has held the post of deputy governor of the central bank since August 2014.
During the sitting, the NA will also approve Nguyen Thanh Long, acting Minister of Health, as minister and Huynh Thanh Dat, director of the Vietnam National University-HCMC, as the new Minister of Science and Technology.
