Must read

HCMC – Phan Van Mai, former secretary of the Party Committee of Ben Tre Province, has been picked as new permanent deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee.

Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, chaired a meeting today, June 1, to announce the Politburo’s decision to assign Mai to hold the post of permanent deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, which had been left vacant since Tran Luu Quang was transferred to the northern city of Haiphong to serve secretary of the city’s Party Committee.

Mai, a 48-year-old native of Ben Tre Province, held various positions including secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Communist Youth Union, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, standing secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation.

In 2014, he served as deputy secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee and chairman of the provincial People’s Council.

At the 12th National Party Congress, he was elected as member of the Party Central Committee. By August 2019, he continued to be elected as secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure.

The existing Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee includes Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the municipal Party Committee, and four deputy secretaries: Phan Van Mai, Nguyen Ho Hai, Nguyen Thanh Phong and Nguyen Thi Le.
