HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh yesterday, December 20, issued a decision allowing the Quang Tri airport project in the province of the same name to be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) format.
Under the decision, the Quang Tri Province government can develop the project while T&T Group JSC can do a prefeasibility study for the project, reported the local media.
The Quang Tri airport will be built in the communes of Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai in the province’s Gio Linh District, covering an area of over 265 hectares. The construction of the airport is aimed at meeting the soaring air transport demand, contributing to the local socioeconomic development, as well as helping ensure the security of the central region.
The project will be implemented in two phases with a total investment of some VND5.8 trillion. It will also be in accordance with the 4C standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization and is expected to serve one million passengers per year and 3,100 tons of commodities per year.
From 2021 to 2024, the investor will prepare and execute the project. The operation and payback period will be 47 years and four months.
