HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today, May 6, had a meeting with Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of the Armed Forces, who is visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.
PM Chinh thanked Minister Lecornu for accepting the invitation to attend the commemoration ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the visit in strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France.
Chinh and the French dignitary recounted the flourishing Vietnam-France relationship since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership in 2014. They highlighted the strengthened ties across various sectors including history, culture, architecture, people-to-people exchanges, as well as politics, economy, education, defense and security.
To further enhance the bilateral relationship, PM Chinh proposed intensifying economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation in combating climate change, energy transition, digital economy development, green economy, circular economy, and technology transfer.
Minister Lecornu expressed France’s high regard for its relations with Vietnam, underlining the importance of cooperation in addressing the consequences of past conflicts between the two countries. He also stated that one of the objectives of his visit to Vietnam is to prepare for French President Macron’s upcoming visit to the country.
