HCMC – Hanoi is drawing crowds from across Vietnam for this year’s National Day holiday (September 2), sending airfares to the capital soaring to two or three times higher than usual.

The city will host a packed lineup of celebrations, including a military parade, marches, and a variety of cultural and artistic performances. These events are expected to draw large crowds, further fueling travel demand.

According to data from the official websites of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, and Bamboo Airways, round-trip tickets on the HCMC-Hanoi route are currently priced between VND4.3 million and nearly VND7 million.

For instance, Vietnam Airlines’ round-trip fares range from VND5 million to VND6.8 million, Vietjet Air from VND4 million to VND5.4 million, and Bamboo Airways around VND6.8 million, all notably higher than in previous years.

Similar price hikes are seen on routes from other major cities. Round-trip fares from Danang range from VND2 million to VND4 million, from Nha Trang can exceed VND4.4 million, and from Phu Quoc range from VND3 million to VND5 million.

The latest data from travel platform Booking.com shows Hanoi topping the list of most searched destinations by Vietnamese travelers for the National Day holiday (August 29 to September 3).

The travel rush is forecast to peak on August 30-31, with the largest outflow of passengers from Hanoi expected on September 2-3.

To save on expenses, travelers are encouraged to book early, choose off-peak flight times, or land at nearby airports such as Haiphong or Thanh Hoa before continuing to Hanoi by road.
