HCMC – Le Quang Tung, Party secretary of Quang Tri Province, has been elected as secretary general of the 15th National Assembly.
On November 28, the National Assembly conducted an electronic vote on the resolution electing Le Quang Tung as a member of the Standing Committee and general secretary of the 15th National Assembly.
A total of 454 deputies took part in the voting, 453 of whom voted in favor, while one abstained.
With this result, the National Assembly passed a resolution electing Le Quang Tung as a member of the Standing Committee and general secretary of the National Assembly.
Tung succeeds Bui Van Cuong, who was relieved of his duties as secretary general of the National Assembly, member of the Standing Committee, and was dismissed from his position as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly just over a month ago.
Le Quang Tung, 53, is from Vuong Loc Commune, Can Loc District, Ha Tinh Province. He is a member of the Party Central Committee of the 12th term (alternate) and the 13th term, as well as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.
He has held the position of Party Secretary of Quang Tri Province since July 2020.
