Retail, service revenue nears VND1.24 quadrillion in first two months

HCMC – Retail revenue from goods and services reached nearly VND1.24 quadrillion in the first two months of 2026, up 7.9% from a year earlier, according to the National Statistics Office.

The statistics agency reported on March 6 that trade and services remained strong in February, meeting shopping demand during the Lunar New Year holiday.

In February alone, total retail sales of goods and services were estimated at VND613.7 trillion, rising 8.5% year-on-year.

Garment sales posted the fastest growth in February, increasing 14.3%. Sales of household appliances and equipment rose 9.6%, while food and foodstuff revenue grew 9%.

Accommodation and food services recorded a 9.7% increase during the month. Travel service revenue rose 13.8%, reflecting higher demand for leisure activities during the holiday period.

Retail sales of goods accounted for 76.4% of total revenue in the January–February period, equivalent to VND945.3 trillion, up 7.8% from the same period last year.

Within this segment, garment sales increased 10.4%, while household goods rose 8.6%.

Several cities recorded notable retail growth. Haiphong reported an increase of 8.5%, Danang 7.9%, and Hanoi 7.7%.

Revenue from accommodation and food services reached an estimated VND149.2 trillion in the first two months of the year, accounting for 12.1% of the total and rising 9.1% year-on-year.

Travel service revenue totaled VND15 trillion, up 12.2% from a year earlier, supported by growth in domestic and international tourism. Ca Mau posted the highest increase at 23.2%, followed by Quang Ninh Province and Danang City.

Other services generated VND127.1 trillion in revenue in the two-month period, up 7.3% year-on-year.
