HCMC – The Saigon Times – Great Circle program, an initiative of the Saigon Times Group, handed over 120 gift sets to Covid-19 patients and disadvantaged people in Ward 11 in HCMC’s District 3 this morning, September 28.
The gift sets were provided by telecoms service provider MobiFone, with each set comprising 5 kilos of rice, instant noodles, canned fish, sugar, condensed milk, soy sauce and cooking oil.
Le Thu Huong, deputy manager for Individual Clients at Mobifone Service Company Region 2, said, “Accompanying the Saigon Times – Great Circle program this time, we provided 120 gift sets to underprivileged families, especially those whose family members were infected with Covid-19 in Ward 11, District 3. Through the program, we expect to help residents overcome difficulties during this Covid-19 outbreak.”
According to Huong, MobiFone plans to distribute 5,000 gift sets worth a total of VND1.5 billion to the needy in 15 areas in the city.
Nguyen Vu Truong Hai, chairman of Ward 11, thanked the Saigon Times – Great Circle program and Mobifone Service Company Region 2 for the donation.
“We had earlier received relief, including food and foodstuffs, from some donors. However, the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic has made life even more difficult for residents of Ward 11,” he said.
Following the success of the “Saigon Times – Great Circle” program in 2020, the Saigon Times Group continued the program this year with the theme, “Join hands to fight the Covid-19 pandemic” to support people affected by the disease.
The program receives donations from organizations and individuals and distributes them to the needy in HCMC and other provinces.
