HCMC – Widespread flooding in Lam Dong Province has disrupted traffic on major roads and prompted the emergency evacuation of more than 1,000 households.
Prolonged heavy rain inundated coastal wards and communes including Ham Thuan, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Liem, Luong Son, and Ham Thang. Several sections of National Highway 1A were submerged on the evening of December 4, forcing authorities to block traffic to ensure safety.
Sections of the highway passing through Ham Thang Ward, Hong Son and Luong Son communes were reported impassable. National Highway 28, which runs through Ham Liem Commune, also faced deep flooding, leaving vehicles stranded and causing many motorbikes to stall.
Preliminary data showed around 1,705 homes were flooded, with water levels continuing to rise. More than 1,000 households were relocated to safer areas.
Agricultural losses have also been extensive. In Lien Huong Commune, more than 250 fishing boats were swept out to sea.
Due to deteriorating weather, passenger vessels operating between Phan Thiet and Phu Quy Island announced a temporary suspension of services from December 6 to 8.
