SGT, Maybank Kim Eng deliver relief to Covid-hit people in HCMC

HCMC – The Saigon Times Group and Maybank Kim Eng Securities Limited on November 9 presented 300 gifts to poor households in HCMC’s Can Gio and Tan Phu districts and Thu Duc City through the “Saigon Times – Great Circle” program.

Two days ealier, the “Saigon Times – Great Circle” program delivered 400 gifts to needy people in HCMC’s districts Binh Chanh, 8, Binh Tan and Tan Binh, taking the total number of gifts provided by Maybank Kim Eng Securities to 700.

Each gift is worth VND400,000, so the total funding for 700 gifts is VND280 million. Each relief bag comprises rice and other necessities.

Nhat Tin Logistics provided transport sponsorship for the program this time around.

Nguyen Bao Toan, agency manager at Maybank Kim Eng Securities, said, “Our company is happy to lend a helping hand to the ‘Saigon Times – Great Circle’ program initiated by the Saigon Times Group to support people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.”

According to Nguyen Chung Phuoc, chairman of the Red Cross Society of Can Gio District, many local residents have lost their livelihoods due to stringent social distancing measures during the fourth Covid-19 wave and are facing many difficulties.

Nguyen Truong Ngoc Mai, chairwoman of the Red Cross Society of Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, Thu Duc City, said, “There are still many people that need help. Many thanks to the donor and the Saigon Times Group for supporting local residents in the ward, especially in HCMC.”

The Saigon Times Group launched the “Saigon Times – Great Circle” program in early 2020 to support Covid-hit people. The program receives donations from organizations and individuals and distributes them to the needy in HCMC and other provinces.

Following the program’s success last year, the Saigon Times Group continued the program this year with the theme, “Join hands to fight the Covid-19 pandemic”.
