Soc Trang General Hospital put in quarantine as 14 coronavirus cases reported

HCMC – The entire Soc Trang Provincial General Hospital in Soc Trang Province was placed under quarantine for 14 days starting at 5 p.m. yesterday, August 2, as 14 Covid-19 infections were detected at the hospital.

The Mekong Delta province yesterday afternoon reported 26 new cases, including 14 cases at the hospital, five cases having direct contact with previously confirmed cases, five cases returning from virus-hit Long An, Binh Duong and HCMC and two cases in a locked down area, according to the provincial Department of Health.

Tran Van Lau, chairman of the provincial government, asked the Health Department to issue guidelines for the hospital to map out a quarantine plan and take measures to ensure safety while receiving patients in need of emergency treatment, kidney dialysis and Covid-19 PCR tests.

The chairman also tasked the provincial government, the Police Department, the Military Command, and the relevant agencies with supporting the hospital during the quarantine period.

By this morning, Soc Trang reported 33 fresh cases, raising the province’s total number of locally-infected cases in the current fourth coronavirus wave since April 27 to 207.
