On Saturday, October 28, 2023, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (NordCham) celebrated its 25th-year anniversary with the 3rd Nordic Business Awards at Sofitel Saigon Plaza. This grand event was a testament to the remarkable growth and influence of NordCham within the Vietnamese business community.
25 Years of Nordic Excellence: A Journey of Growth and Success
The evening was dedicated to celebrating the incredible journey of the Nordic business community in Vietnam over the past 25 years. NordCham has played an integral role in nurturing this growth, from expanding its membership base significantly and representing more than 160 members with 400 business leaders, to providing valuable support and business insights to its members for sustainable development.
The event was graced by the presence of two hundred distinguished guests, including business leaders, NordCham members, investors, representatives from other European Chambers of Commerce, and diplomats, including Ambassadors from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
During the event, Ambassadors shared their appreciation for NordCham’s contributions:
- While congratulating NordCham for its 25 year journey, H.E. Mr. Nicolai Prytz – Ambassador of Denmark to Vietnam also praised Nordic companies for their vital role in strengthening Nordic-Vietnam relations through responsible investments.
- H.E. Mrs. Hilde Solbakken – Ambassador of Norway to Vietnam acknowledged NordCham’s initiatives promoting trade and business engagement between Nordic countries and Vietnam.
- H.E. Mrs. Ann Mawe – Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam commended NordCham for efforts in connecting business and Nordic alumni in promoting Nordic values, including diversity and inclusion, sustainable development.
Nordic Business Awards 2023: Recognizing Excellence
The highlight of the evening was the 3rd Nordic Business Awards, an annual competition showcasing the best of Nordic businesses in Vietnam. This year’s winners included:

- Business Innovation Award: ECOTEK
- SME Excellence Award: Mermaid Maritime Vietnam
- Employer of the Year Award: Hitachi Energy
- Work The Nordic Way Award: Home Credit Vietnam

In addition to business awards, NordCham paid tribute to individuals who have significantly enriched Vietnamese-Nordic and Vietnamese-European relations:
- Lifetime Award: Mr. Preben Hjortlund, Late Chairman of NordCham Vietnam
- Nordic Leader of the Year: Ms. Lone Søndergaard Larsen, COO at Spring Production
- Nordic Friend of the Year: Mr. Krister Kling, Former Honorary Consul General of Sweden in Ho Chi Minh City

Chairwoman of NordCham, Eva Hansen, highlighted the significance of collaboration in her opening remarks. She emphasized how like-minded individuals and companies coming together have brought innovation, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion to the forefront of Vietnam’s business landscape.
Supporting a Noble Cause
During the awards ceremony, fundraising activities were conducted to support the Song Foundation’s Flood Resistant Housing Program, through a lucky draw with generous gifts from sponsors, such as Norbreeze Collective Asia, ECCO Vietnam, Food Source Vietnam, Foods, Julie Sandlau Vietnam, and Sofitel Plaza Saigon.
