Three national highways in Mekong Delta to be upgraded in 2025

HCMC – The Ministry of Transport is set to commence upgrading national highways 53, 62, and 91B in the Mekong Delta region next year.

The ministry has completed a pre-feasibility study for the upgrade plan and submitted it to the prime minister for approval. Once approved, construction work could begin next year, with the project expected to be completed by 2027.

The VND9.2-trillion project will improve connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region. After the upgrade, the roads can accommodate vehicles traveling at a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

The project will involve upgrading 69 kilometers of National Highway 62, 41 kilometers of National Highway 53, and 141 kilometers of National Highway 91B.

Upon completion, these upgraded highways will improve regional connectivity, facilitating transportation and boosting tourism across the provinces of Long An, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu.
