HCMC – My Tho City in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang begins social distancing in line with the Prime Minister’s Directive 16 from midnight, June 30, until further notice to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Under the decision made on June 29, Tan Long Ward and Thoi Son Commune in the city are not subject to the order.

During the social distancing period, the residents of My Tho City are required to refrain from going out except to buy food, medicines and other necessities, while production factories and essential goods suppliers remain operational, but must strictly comply with Covid-19 safety measures.

In addition, residents must avoid gatherings of more than two persons in public places and keep a distance of at least two meters from each other.

Besides, eateries, restaurants and coffee shops are only permitted to offer takeaway services, while sellers and customers must wear face masks.

Firms in the city were told to allow their employees to work from home to minimize the risk of Covid-19 infection, the local media reported.

Since the current fourth wave of the coronavirus emerged on April 27, Tien Giang Province has reported 89 domestic Covid-19 cases.
