Top Vietnamese leader arrives in Mongolia

HCMC – Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh presided over a welcome ceremony in honor of Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam in Ulaanbaatar today, September 30, as the latter began a state visit to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Khurelsukh welcomed Lam upon his motorcade arrival at the Sukhbaatar Square.

The top Vietnamese leader was earlier greeted at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar by Batmunkh Battsetseg, Mongolian minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jigjee Sereejav, Mongolian ambassador to Vietnam.

After the welcome ceremony, Lam wrote on the guest of honor book at the Mongolian State Palace. In his entry, he emphasized the 70-year partnership between Vietnam and Mongolia, marked by major achievements in cooperation and development.

Lam announced that later in the day, the leaders of both countries would jointly declare the elevation of bilateral relations to a comprehensive partnership. The upgrade is expected to usher in a new era of deeper, more fruitful and enhanced cooperation, benefiting the peoples of both nations and contributing to shared prosperity and happiness between Vietnam and Mongolia.

As planned, Lam and Khurelsukh will discuss key directions and measures to further strengthen political trust and enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including diplomacy, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.
