HCMC – The Ministry of Transport looks to start work on 19 infrastructure projects this year, complete the first phase of Long Thanh International Airport, and finalize the drafting of a Government decree providing special mechanisms for the North-South high-speed railway project.

The targets were outlined in the 2025 emulation campaign launched by Transport Minister Tran Hong Minh, according to the Government news site (baochinhphu.vn).

It has set ambitious goals to begin work on 19 traffic infrastructure projects and complete 50 projects by the end of this year.

These include completing the North-South Expressway, working with local governments to operate 3,000 kilometers of expressway nationwide, and largely finishing the cross-country Ho Chi Minh Road and Long Thanh International Airport.

The ministry will also review and refine regulations, reduce administrative procedures, and enhance decentralization to local authorities while mobilizing resources to ensure the timely completion and quality of key projects.

At the same time, it will complete procedures to start work on expressway projects this year, such as HCMC-Chon Thanh, Cam Lo-La Son, La Son-Tuy Loan, Cho Moi-Bac Kan, and My An-Cao Lanh Phase 1.

The ministry will accelerate the development of traffic monitoring systems and rest areas along expressways to ensure synchronized and efficient operation, with completion targeted for the second quarter.

The focus will be on preparing the feasibility study for the North-South high-speed rail line, drafting resolutions and decrees for special mechanisms, expediting the planning of the Hanoi-Dong Dang, Haiphong-Halong-Mong Cai routes, and other key routes.

In the aviation sector, the ministry plans to put into operation passenger terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC before April 30 (when South Vietnam was liberated and the country was reunified 50 years ago), and to implement the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project in accordance with the required schedule.
