HCMC – The Government has allowed the Ministry of Transport to decide on resuming international commercial flights and assigned multiple tasks to other ministries to serve the country’s economic reopening, said the Government Office.

The Government Office has announced a circular at a regular Cabinet meeting held recently, saying that the resumption of regular international flights must ensure compliance with the country’s guidelines on safe, flexible adaption to and effective control of Covid-19, and must create favorable conditions for traveling in line with anti-pandemic protocols.

As for the tasks assigned to other ministries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was told to coordinate with the relevant agencies to continue studying measures for safe and effective reopening of the economy. Also, it was asked to create favorable conditions for foreign experts to enter Vietnam for work and facilitate negotiations with more countries and territories to recognize Vietnam’s Covid vaccine passport.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has to team up with the relevant agencies and local authorities to soon announce a roadmap to fully reopen the country’s borders to the world. The local tourism sector should make efforts for the country’s international travel to be fully resumed before March 30 and by April 30 at the latest.

The Ministry of Health was urged to purchase Covid vaccines for children aged 5-12. It also has to continue to update, adjust Covid-related regulations and medical guidelines for Covid patients under home-based treatment, people with mild Covid symptoms, and those in direct contact with Covid cases.

Earlier, the Health Ministry sought the Government’s approval to buy 21.9 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine to administer to children aged from five to below 12.
