HCMC – Twenty-two businesses have been recognized as “Green Stars” at the Sustainable Development 2025: A New Era for the Green Growth event, part of the annual Green Economy Forum organized by the Saigon Times Group.

The Green Star Merit Ceremony took place on August 28 in HCMC, honoring the businesses in manufacturing, construction-real estate, and services-commerce that have actively contributed to the green transition and sustainable development.

The honorees were multinational corporations with strong resources and Vietnamese companies demonstrating adaptability in integrating sustainability into their operations.

For many businesses, green products now account for 30% to 80% of revenue. Efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adopt renewable energy, and cut operating costs—by up to 25% in some cases—have also enhanced reputations and attracted eco-conscious partners and customers.

“This recognition not only honors these efforts but also serves as a source of inspiration to promote a collective commitment toward a better future,” said Pham Huu Chuong, deputy editor-in-chief of the Saigon Times Group.

The Green Star recognition also underscores the balance between global and local players. While global brands pursue net-zero targets, Vietnamese businesses are proving that sustainability is achievable at any scale.

Nam Long Group, for example, has spent the past decade developing green buildings. “This recognition motivates us to stay on course with our sustainability strategy and to inspire similar transitions across the real estate sector,” said Nguyen Thanh Huong, the company’s chief investment officer.

Frasers Property Vietnam views the recognition as reinforcement of its long-term goal to build sustainable spaces. “It is a reminder of our commitment to continuous innovation and collaboration for a greener Vietnam,” said Truong An Duong, general manager of Industrial & Residential at Frasers Property Vietnam.

KMS Technology, a software services provider, said the award acknowledges its ongoing initiatives to optimize office operations and implement green programs. “It also motivates us to spread the spirit of green living to every employee,” said Le Le Trang, head of communications at KMS.

Duy Tan Recycling, which converts plastic waste into usable material, called the Green Star recognition both motivation and a reminder that green production is a long-term journey requiring persistence and collaboration. “It reinforces our commitment to turn plastic waste into resources, protecting the environment while creating economic and social value,” said Le Anh, the company’s director of sustainable development. “Green production and sustainable growth are a long journey that requires persistence, creativity, and collaboration.”

Organizers said the Green Star recognition is a call to action for Vietnam’s business community, emphasizing that sustainability is not just a responsibility but also a driver of efficiency, competitiveness, and positive social impact.

In line with the Saigon Times’ commitment to sustainability, the 2025 Sustainable Development event was organized with minimal environmental impact.

This initiative aligns with the broader effort in society to cut emissions and supports Vietnam’s pledge made by the prime minister at COP26 to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
