HCMC – Two fires rattled residents in HCMC this morning, March 18, with one in Vinh Hoi residential area in District 4, and another in Go Vap District, claiming one life and causing significant damage to property.

At 10 a.m., smoke billowed from a 50-square-meter apartment on the first floor of Block J in Vinh Hoi residential area. The apartment was unoccupied when the fire broke out, and despite residents’ attempts to contain it, the flames quickly engulfed the apartment, shrouding the area in thick smoke.

Firefighters swiftly responded to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze after 30 minutes of intense effort, though significant damage was done to the property.

Earlier, at around 3 a.m., a fire erupted on the ground floor of a house in an alley on Le Duc Tho Street, Ward 16, Go Vap District.

The presence of highly flammable materials made it hard for firefighters and rescuers to access the scene, hindering their efforts to save a 38-year-old man trapped inside. When authorities finally made their way into the house, they discovered the man dead on the staircase leading to the first floor.
