HCMC – Vietnam Airlines will suspend its regular flights between Van Don and HCMC from April 1, 2026, citing the spike in jet fuel prices as the reason for the temporary halt of this domestic route.

The Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province said the suspension could affect passengers’ travel plans and pledged to assist affected travelers, and that it would coordinate with airlines to provide timely updates.

Passengers who have already purchased tickets are advised to contact their point of purchase or Vietnam Airlines’ customer service hotline for assistance with schedule updates, ticket changes or refunds in accordance with regulations.

They can also follow official updates from the airline to proactively adjust their travel plans.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam warned that disruptions to the supply of Jet A-1 fuel, stemming from tensions in the Middle East, could lead to fuel shortages for domestic airlines.

Facing mounting cost pressures, Vietnamese airlines will begin adjusting their flight networks from April, focusing on maintaining key routes such as Hanoi-Danang-HCMC and services that meet essential socio-economic demand.

By contrast, a number of domestic routes with low seat occupancy, especially those operating during nighttime or off-peak hours, have had frequencies cut or services suspended as they are no longer economically viable.

Vietnam Airlines is expected to temporarily suspend several routes from April 1, 2026, including Haiphong-Buon Ma Thuot, Haiphong-Cam Ranh, Haiphong-Phu Quoc, Haiphong-Can Tho, HCMC-Rach Gia, and HCMC-Dien Bien. A total of 23 flights per week on these routes will be cancelled.
