HCMC – Citizens of Vietnam and Belarus will be able to travel visa-free between the two countries starting late this month. The agreement allows a maximum visa-free stay of 30 days per trip and a cumulative limit of 90 days annually.
The visa exemption follows the formalization of an agreement to this effect signed on December 8, 2023 between Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Evgeny Shestakov in Hanoi.
As reported by the Vietnam News Agency, the visa exemption for ordinary passport holders will come into effect on January 30 this year.
The agreement stipulates that citizens of both nations can enter, stay, and exit without a visa, provided their visit does not exceed 30 days per entry or a total of 90 days within a 12-month period.
This builds on a 1993 agreement between Vietnam and Belarus, which provided visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders. Additionally, Belarusian citizens have enjoyed visa-free entry into Vietnam since 2015.
