HCMC – Work simultaneously started on 121 inter-level boarding schools in border communes in 17 localities nationwide today.

This project, initiated under the direction of Party General Secretary To Lam, requires a total cost of VND30 trillion, 93% of it coming from the central Government.

It will bridge the educational gap for ethnic minority students and strengthen national security along the country’s frontiers.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the groundbreaking ceremony will be organized at the same time across 121 inter-level boarding schools in border communes of 17 provinces and cities nationwide, including Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Ngai, Daklak, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap and An Giang.

This move follows an initial rollout in late 2025 when 108 schools were built. They will be put into use in August this year. Meanwhile, the Government targets completing the 121 schools before August 30, 2027, ensuring they are fully operational for the 2027-2028 school year.

Beyond physical construction, the ministry has introduced specialized policies to attract and retain top-tier educators for these remote areas. Teachers at these border boarding schools will be entitled to the highest preferential allowances in the specialized school system, alongside fully equipped official housing for their families.

Party General Secretary To Lam recently attended the inauguration of the Si Pa Phin boarding school in Dien Bien Province, a model facility that underscores the Party’s commitment to providing “world-class” educational opportunities to even the most remote corners of the nation.
