HCMC – Vietnam and Qatar have signed multiple deals on air transport, sports, legal affairs, diplomacy and investment, as part of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to this West Asian country.
The signing ceremony took place on October 31 (local time), under the witness of Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani, according to local media.
These include a protocol between Qatar and Vietnam amending the Air Transport Agreement signed on March 8, 2009, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in sports between the governments of Vietnam and Qatar.
Others comprise a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in legal affairs between the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice and the Qatari Ministry of Justice; a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Institute of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and a memorandum of understanding between the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) on investment cooperation.
Earlier on the same day, the Prime Minister of Qatar presided over the official welcome ceremony in honor of PM Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation. After the ceremony, the two sides held talks.
This marks the first official visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Qatar in the past 15 years.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will participate in discussions and meetings with the Emir, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Qatar’s National Assembly, as well as hold working sessions with Qatari ministers, businesses, and investment funds.
The visit aims to reinforce political trust and pave the way for a new era of cooperation between the two countries, with a particular focus on attracting Qatari investment into Vietnam and advancing the presence of Vietnamese goods and services in the Qatari and regional markets.
