HCMC – The Ministry of Health yesterday, October 19, received 100,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and 100,000 Covid rapid test kits donated by the Government of Hungary.
Speaking at a handover ceremony held yesterday, Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong said the vaccine and test kits would soon be allocated to localities and agencies.
He also stressed that the Covid pandemic has upended all aspects of life in many parts of the world, disrupting a host of socioeconomic activities. There is a need for joint efforts from all countries across the world to cope with the health crisis.
“Vietnam hopes that Hungary will continue to accompany the country in the challenging battle against Covid,” Cuong added.
Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Öry Csaba and the Vietnamese health official also discussed cooperation opportunities in the research and development of vaccines and test kit products, as well as in conducting the third phase of the clinical trial of Vietnam’s homegrown Nanocovax Covid vaccine.
Up to now, Vietnam has received more than 90 million Covid vaccine doses from various sources. As of October 18, the country had administered over 65.7 million doses, with around 19 million people getting fully vaccinated.
