HCMC – In response to the intensifying war in the Middle East, the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Home Affairs has requested all businesses to temporarily suspend sending Vietnamese workers to the region over security concerns.
This emergency measure, effective March 2, aims to ensure the absolute safety of Vietnamese workers following U.S.-Israel airstrikes against Iran, which began last weekend.
Beyond the suspension of new worker deployments, the regulatory body has mandated that labor export firms maintain continuous communication with international partners and local employers to provide real-time security updates. Companies are tasked with protecting the legal rights and interests of Vietnamese workers in the event of emergencies while strengthening information channels to reassure those already on-site, preventing panic or unauthorized movement from workplaces.
The instability in the Middle East has raised significant security concerns for over 10,000 Vietnamese currently employed in key regional markets, including Saudi Arabia (some 6,000 workers), the United Arab Emirates (4,000 workers), Qatar and Bahrain, predominantly within the construction, engineering, and energy sectors.
