HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal for a nine-day Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday and a five-day National Day break in 2026, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Under the plan, public employees and workers in administrative agencies, public institutions, and socio-political organizations will have the Lunar New Year holiday from February 14 to 22, 2026. The break includes five official public holidays and four weekend days, totaling nine consecutive days off.
For National Day, civil servants will be off from August 29 to September 2, 2026. The five-day break includes two official days, two weekend days, and one additional day off in exchange for working on August 22, 2026.
The PM assigned the Ministry of Home Affairs to officially notify government agencies, organizations, businesses, and workers of the holiday schedules.
He also requested that agencies arrange staff on duty and organize work appropriately to ensure uninterrupted public services during the holidays.
The Government urged ministries and local authorities to implement measures to stabilize markets, ensure the supply of goods and services, control prices, promote production and trade, and encourage prudent spending before, during, and after the Tet and National Day holidays in 2026.
