HCMC – International visitors to Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2024 surged 41% over the same period last year to over 14.1 million, with October alone seeing 1.42 million foreign arrivals, showed data from the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

Asian markets accounted for nearly 80% of total international tourists, with China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan making up almost 60% of all arrivals. South Korea was the top source, with 3.7 million visitors, or 26.4% of the total, followed by China with three million, or 21.3%.

Taiwan ranked third with one million visitors, while the U.S. and Japan contributed 637,000 and 585,000 visitors, respectively. Other key markets included Australia, India, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Thailand.

The strong inbound tourism growth translated into revenue of VND50.3 trillion in the first 10 months, up by 14.2% versus the same period last year, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Northeast Asia drove much of the growth, with visitors from China up by an impressive 130% year-on-year, South Korea up by 28.5%, Japan up by 24.8%, and Taiwan up by 59.4%.

Southeast Asian markets also expanded, with Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, and India all reporting significant growth. Key European markets, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, also saw gains.
