Vietnam’s Covid tally rises by 7,491

HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 7,491 new Covid-19 cases this evening, November 6, with 11 of them imported and 7,480 locally infected, sending the country’s total case number so far to 961,038.

The new infections were detected in 55 cities and provinces. Dong Nai reported the most infections, at 1,085, followed closely behind by HCMC with 986, Binh Duong with 921, An Giang with 490 and Kien Giang with 475.

Ca Mau, Tay Ninh, Bac Lieu, Tien Giang, Binh Thuan, Soc Trang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, Ha Giang, Long An and Hanoi had 116-318 new infections each.

Other cities and provinces reported fewer than 100 cases each.

With the fresh cases recorded today, domestically transmitted cases have amounted to 956,126 in the fourth wave of the pandemic, which began in late April 2021.

This afternoon, the Ministry of Health confirmed 58 more Covid deaths, taking the nation’s death toll to 22,470. The new deaths included 32 in HCMC, and five each in Binh Duong and Dong Nai. Nine other cities and provinces reported one or two deaths each.

To date, 836,284 Covid patients have fully recovered, while there are currently more than 3,200 critically ill Covid patients in the country.

Vietnam has administered 88.4 million doses of the Covid vaccines nationwide so far. Some 28.1 million people have got two shots.

In related news, vessels KN475 and KN462 carrying two military medical teams of Naval Region 4 and medical supplies are visiting the island district of Truong Sa in Khanh Hoa Province to vaccinate residents and soldiers there.

The two vessels departed the Cam Ranh Port in the south central province this morning and will visit islands of the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.

All soldiers and people residing on islands of the Truong Sa Archipelago, as well as fishermen working in the area will receive health examinations and be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

This vaccination campaign is expected to complete in mid-December.

Up to now, Khanh Hoa Province has administered more than 1.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Over 930,000 people, or nearly 100% of people aged 18 and above in the province, have received one dose.
