Viettel Post has new chairman

HCMC – Nguyen Viet Dung, head of the Strategy Department at Viettel Group, has been picked as chairman of the board of directors at Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (Viettel Post, HOSE: VTP), with effect from August 26.

His appointment was also approved by the board of directors of Viettel Post. Dung has been on the board for three consecutive terms since 2014.

Dung, born in 1970, has extensive experience in telecommunications and postal services. He has held key positions at various Viettel subsidiaries, including CEO of Viettel Telecom and deputy general director of Viettel Global.

Dung will continue to serve as head of Strategy at Viettel Group alongside his new role. His predecessor, Nguyen Thanh Nam, was relieved following his request to step down for personal reasons.

Viettel Post, originally established as a press distribution center in 1997 under Viettel Group, primarily operates in domestic and international logistics, parcel, and mail delivery. It also offers logistics and trade services. The company has a network covering the country’s 63 provinces and several international markets.

Viettel Post was converted into a joint-stock company in 2009. Viettel Group remains the majority shareholder, holding 68.85 million VTP shares, or a 60.83% stake.

In the first half of this year, Viettel Post posted revenue of over VND9.6 trillion, with net profit reaching VND152 billion. The company looks to book revenue VND13.1 trillion and profit of VND370 billion for 2024.

Closing the trading session today, August 30, VTP edged down by 0.13% to VND76,000 per share, with 343,700 shares traded.

With 202 winners and 180 losers, the VN-Index added 2.4 points, or 0.19% over the previous session, to 1,283.87 points.

Trading volume and value inched down by 9.8% and 3.6% versus the session earlier, with 571.6 million shares worth VND14.03 trillion changing hands. Block deals accounted for 60.82 million shares valued at VND1.4 trillion.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the 30 largest-cap stocks, gained nearly 4.85 points, or 0.37%, to 1,331.52 points, with 17 bluechips advancing and eight others dipping.

TCB, HDB and MWG were the top performers, each rising more than 1%. TCB increased 1.5% to VND23,350 per share, contributing over 0.6 point to the main index.

In the securities sector, FTS was the biggest gainer as it added 1.9%. Other stocks in the sector recorded modest increases of about 0.5%. VIX ended unchanged at VND12,150 per share, but it took the lead by liquidity with nearly 41 million shares traded.

The HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange slipped by 0.31 point, or 0.13%, to 237.56 points, with 78 advancers and 84 decliners. The northern exchange recorded a trading volume of 48.41 million shares and value of VND947.3 billion
