266 Vietnamese arrive home from Kuwait, Qatar, Egypt

HCMC – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 266 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt on June 15 and 16.

The flights were arranged by the Vietnamese embassies, Vietnam’s carrier Bamboo Airways and the competent agencies of the host countries.

All the passengers and cabin crew underwent health checkups and were sent to local quarantine centers in the south upon their arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in HCMC.

The flights were arranged to pick up passengers from Kuwait and Qatar given the complicated developments as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the travel restrictions imposed by several countries.

As of this morning, June 16, Kuwait reported 36,431 Covid-19 cases with 298 deaths, becoming the 33rd hardest-hit country. Egypt ranked 28th, reporting 46,289 cases, with the death toll mounting to 1,672. Qatar ranked 20th, with 80,876 infections including 76 deaths, according to the latest data from Worldometers.

As for Vietnam, the country has not recorded any new cases caused by community transmission for 61 straight days. Of the total 324 patients, 323 have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
