HCMC – The market surveillance force of the northern province of Lang Son has seized three containers with 86 tons of frozen beef and horsemeat of unknown-origin.
On August 26, Lang Son authorities detected three containers suspected to be transporting illicit goods. They then inspected the vehicles for around 36 hours.
The findings showed tons of packaged beef, horsemeat, animal organs and skin. Each package weighed 15 to 25 kilograms and had neither label nor information about the origin, production date and expiration date.
Preliminary reports pointed out that the trucks traveled from Cao Bang Province to Lang Son and other localities for consumption.
The drivers said they were employees of Hai Phong-based Ngoc Phuong Transport Trading Company Limited and they had no clue about the contents of the goods.
The authorities recorded the violation, sealed the containers and are investigating the case.
