HCMC – The authorities of Danang City decided to impose the stay-at-home order under the prime minister’s Directive 16 in four wards of the city starting from July 17 to cope with the resurgence of Covid-19 in this central coastal city.
An Khe and Thach Gian wards in Thanh Khe District, Hoa An Ward in Cam Le District and Hoa Khanh Bac Ward in Lien Chieu District are at high risk of community transmission and are home to many people in indirect contact with confirmed cases, who are workers of the Viet Hoa Electronics Company and the Hoa Khanh industrial park. The city will take further measures once the Covid-19 test results of people in these areas are available.
The municipal Department of Health will implement a large-scale testing plan for residents of the four wards as well as for residents citywide.
The central city reported 40 new infections today, with eight cases linked to the Viet Hoa Company, while the rest are those in direct contact with previously confirmed cases.
The city’s anti-Covid-19 steering committee this morning convened an urgent meeting with the relevant agencies to discuss measures to combat the disease.
Earlier, after several Covid-19 cases were detected, the city imposed a ban on beach swimming, sports activities and barber services starting from 12 p.m. yesterday, just four days after it reopened beaches, indoor and outdoor sports activities. Other non-essential services also remain suspended to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
