CAN THO – Dong Thap Province will hold a mango festival to promote Dong Thap mangoes in the local and international markets.
At a press briefing held in Dong Thap Province on April 12, the organizing board said that the festival showed the efforts of localities and farmers in enhancing the values of Dong Thap mangoes, one of the five key sectors in the agriculture restructuring plan of the province.
The event aims to connect businesses, step up production and trading and attract investors in the processing and exporting sectors, simultaneously promoting products and brands of Dong Thap agro-products to local and foreign consumers.
Dong Thap now has 42,000 hectares of land producing fruits of all types, of which 14,000 hectares of land for mango planting are in the Cao Lanh, Thanh Binh and Lap Vo provinces and Cao Lanh City, providing around 170,000 tons of mangoes to the market every year.
Statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that in the first two months of this year, mango exports had brought Vietnam a revenue of merely US$33 million, rising 14.2% compared to the same period of last year.
The 2023 Dong Thap mango festival titled “Dong Thap mangoes – increasing the position” will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2023, in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province.
