HCMC – The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has committed to ensuring a stable power supply for producers and households throughout the year.

During a press conference on June 19, representatives from various departments within the ministry outlined multiple solutions to maintain a steady power supply in 2024.

By June 18, electricity consumption had reached 141.8 billion kWh, accounting for 45.65% of the full-year plan. However, the ERA assured that there would be no electricity shortage this year, unlike in 2023.

A representative from the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy said that electricity consumption has grown at around 12% this year.

To meet the increasing demand, the ministry has proposed several solutions and mechanisms to implement projects under the National Power Development Plan VIII. These include establishing mechanisms for LNG gas power plants, ensuring the 500kV circuit-3 power transmission line becomes operational according to the Prime Minister’s schedule, and planning for electricity imports to bolster power supply.
