HCMC – Vietnam’s insurance companies have paid over VND9 trillion for damages caused by typhoon Yagi and ensuing flooding and landslides, according to the Insurance Supervisory Authority under the Ministry of Finance.
Life insurance firms reported 23 deaths and six health-related claims linked to the storm, with total payouts for these claims reaching VND13 billion.
In the non-life insurance sector, around 12,000 claims were filed for property, vehicle, and health damages. Total losses are estimated at VND9 trillion, with insurers making advance payments of VND9.9 billion to affected policyholders.
Typhoon Yagi struck northern Vietnam earlier this month, resulting in widespread destruction.
