HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam held a phone conversation with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump last night, November 11.

Lam congratulated Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States and praised his contributions to the development of bilateral ties between the two nations.

He emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to fostering a stable, enduring relationship with the U.S. that serves the interests of both peoples and promotes regional and global peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

Both leaders discussed the positive trajectory of the Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and pledged to further enhance bilateral cooperation. They identified key areas for trade and investment collaboration, leveraging the complementary strengths and needs of both nations.

Trump expressed satisfaction with the growing Vietnam-U.S. relations and highlighted priorities in bilateral cooperation that Washington seeks to advance. He voiced optimism about the future of the partnership.

While recalling his memories of previous visits to Vietnam, Trump conveyed his good impressions of the Vietnamese people. He also expressed appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the U.S.

During the call, Lam extended an invitation to the U.S. president-elect to visit Vietnam. Trump accepted the invitation and invited the Vietnamese Party chief to visit the U.S. at an appropriate time.
