Another body found after Halong boat tour accident

HCMC – The body found on the afternoon of July 25 has been identified through DNA testing as one of the tourists who went missing in the Vinh Xanh 58 boat that capsized on the afternoon of July 19 in Halong Bay.

Earlier, at around 3:00 p.m. on July 25, following a tip-off from local residents, the volunteer rescue team 116 and the Halong Paragliding Club discovered a female body.

Authorities in Quang Ninh Province dispatched a team to the Dua estuary area, near Titop Island, around two nautical miles from the site of the capsizing, to retrieve the body and transport it to Bai Chay Hospital for identification procedures.

The victim’s body has been handed over to the family for burial.

Authorities, volunteer teams, and local residents are continuing the search for the remaining missing victim, determined to bring all victims back to their families.

On July 19, the Vinh Xanh 58 tourist boat, registration number QN 48-7105, was carrying 49 people, including 46 tourists and three crew members, on a tour of Halong Bay.

About 35 minutes into the trip, the boat was overturned by a powerful squall. Of the 49 people on board, 10 were fortunately rescued.

As of the end of July 25, authorities in Quang Ninh Province had identified and handed over the bodies of 38 victims to their families. One victim remains missing.
