Major shareholder offloads 15 million shares of Viconship

HCMC – VietinBank Capital has sold 15 million shares of Viconship (HOSE, VSC), lowering its ownership in the latter from 10.82% to 6.82% of charter capital.

The block trade, conducted on August 12, was valued at VND388.5 billion, equivalent to an average price of VND25,900 per share.

From July 1 to August 12, Viconship (VSC) shares surged by 75.9% from VND15,750 each to VND27,700. The stock extended its rally on August 13 as it hit the daily ceiling price of VND29,600.

In a related development, Viconship will finalize the list of shareholders eligible to attend its extraordinary general meeting on August 21. The meeting’s date and venue have yet to be announced.

Closing the trading session today, August 19, VSC fell by 3.31% against yesterday’s session to VND35,000, with more than 22.9 million shares changing hands.

On the southern exchange, banking stocks surged alongside strong gains in real estate and construction stocks, lifting the VN-Index above the key psychological threshold of 1,650 points.

With 189 gainers, including 27 hitting the daily limit, and 144 decliners, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 17.83 points, or 1.09% compared to the previous session, to close at 1,654.2.

Trading volume totaled over 1.933 billion shares worth VND54.4 trillion, up more than 20% in both volume and value from the previous session. Block deal transactions accounted for over 144 million shares, worth VND4.7 trillion.

VPBank (VPB) stole the spotlight as it added more than four points to the VN-Index. The stock closed at its ceiling price of VND34,200, with trading volume exceeding 21.6 million shares and nearly 12 million ceiling-price buy orders left unmatched.

ACB and TPB rallied strongly, each advancing more than 5% at the close. VIB, CTG and TCB followed with gains ranging from 2% to over 3%. TPB was particularly active, with over 70.5 million shares traded, making it the second most liquid stock on the exchange.

At the close, the HNX saw 101 gainers and 63 decliners. The HNX-Index added 2.58 points, or 0.91%, to finish at 286.45. Matching volume totaled more than 190 million shares worth VND4.24 trillion.
