HCMC – The speed limit for big trucks and buses will be reduced to 80 kph on the Vinh Hao–Phan Thiet and My Thuan–Can Tho expressways from 90 kph, under a decision by the Department for Roads of Vietnam.
- Speed limit lowered for heavy-duty vehicles on expressways
- Maximum speed raised to 90kph on eight expressways
The department approved a proposal from Road Management Area IV to adjust speed limits by vehicle type on the two routes, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
Trucks over 3.5 tons, buses with more than 29 seats, and sleeper buses will be limited to 80 kph. Passenger cars, buses with fewer than 29 seats, and trucks under 3.5 tons can continue at up to 90 kph. The minimum speed remains 60 kph.
The adjustment aims to improve safety on expressways built in phases with four lanes and non-continuous emergency stopping lanes.
The Vinh Hao–Phan Thiet expressway is more than 100 kilometers long, while the My Thuan–Can Tho route spans nearly 23 kilometers. Both currently operate with a maximum speed of 90 kph and a minimum of 60 kph.
