HCMC – Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam this morning hosted an official welcome ceremony for Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, who is in Singapore for a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Tharman and his spouse welcomed To Lam, his spouse and a high level Vietnamese delegation.

The visit from May 29 to 31 comes as the two countries are deepening cooperation under their comprehensive strategic partnership, which was established earlier this year.

Vietnam and Singapore share one of the most dynamic, substantive and effective partnerships in Southeast Asia. Economic, trade and investment ties remain the cornerstone of the relationship.

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam is also scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue.

Singapore is one of Vietnam’s most important economic partners and its second-largest foreign investor. Singaporean investments cover a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, infrastructure, logistics, real estate, finance, high technology and modern services. These projects have contributed significantly to Vietnam’s economic growth, job creation and economic restructuring.
