HCMC – A semi-trailer truck flipped over on the HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway this morning, April 19, causing heavy traffic congestion along some three kilometers of the road for two hours.
A patrol team of the Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security said it was investigating the cause of the accident. But the local media reported that an initial result of the investigation indicated the truck driver was dozing off when the accident happened.
At 5 a.m., the tractor trailer crashed into the road divider, knocked over a lamp pole and overturned on the expressway section in Long An Province’s Tan An City while traveling from HCMC to the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.
The driver of the truck sustained slight injuries.
Due to the accident, traffic was briefly redirected to National Highway 1A to ease the congestion.
At 8 a.m., the police and rescuers moved the tractor trailer out of the accident site.
